Market Samurai markets itself as a traffic-hunting software product. It goes beyond just being a keyword research tool and is in fact a powerful market research tool equipped with everything you need to rank high in page ranking and increase traffic to your site.

Market Samurai Features

Market Samurai comes with a boat load of features. For a one-time payment of $149, you will gain access to tools, which will enable you to:

Monitor your website rankings instantly

Obtain information on how strong your competitors are in a given niche

Find appropriate keywords to rank high on your niche

Zoom in on a domain, which can help you increase your search engine ranking

Instantly publish affiliate ads to your site

Locate content available for republishing

Build high quality backlinks

Aside from the software, for the price you pay, you will also get free upgrade of the Adwords Module for PPC campaigns. It also includes free lifetime upgrades of the Market Samurai software and personalized email support.

Market Samurai Pros

All-In Product. When it comes to features, Market Samurai is a breed of its own. Imagine all other market research tools out there and put it all in one product—that is what Market Samurai is in a nutshell. While existing products today just focus on one aspect of search engine marketing, Market Samurai hits all aspects in an amazingly accurate manner.

Guaranteed Fast Results. How fast? A sale within a day! That is amazing in every sense of the word. Ranking? Let us just say ranking first place on Google within 30 minutes is possible, and the possibility of you ranking all your sites on the first page is very achievable.

Simple and Easy to Use. You may be thinking–if Market Samurai is such a cutting edge, amazingly advanced technology, it probably is for advanced users only. No. Quite the contrary, you do not have to have any technical or internet marketing knowledge or experience to make this product work to your advantage. Market Samurai is as user-friendly as they come.

Market Samurai Cons

Price. Yeah, yeah, always the price, but quite honestly, anything above a hundred bucks is sure to make you think twice. However, when you are having doubts, consider this—the price was lower before and since then, it has increased exponentially. When things like this happen, you know that the product works. How do we know? We know because, unlike other products, the developer is not dropping the price to entice unknowing consumers. The fact that it is increasing in price means more and more people are realizing its value.

Market Samurai Recommendation

Market Samurai is all you need for your internet marketing campaign. It takes a lot of time and effort off internet marketing tasks. This is a highly recommended software product for both beginners and advanced users alike. Positive results are immediate. The product comes with a 30-day money back guarantee although, we are pretty confident you will not have a need for it.

I’ve been a long time subscriber of Wordze and it’s one of my goto tools to use whenever I’m starting up a new PPC campaign or writing seo articles for one of my websites. For those that don’t know, Wordze is a keyword research suite that contains a whole set of different keyword research tools. Compared to other keyword research tools, Wordze gets its keyword data from its own unique set of data sources, mostly from ISPs and internet portals. The Wordze website claims these data sources get 7-13% of all internet search queries. By compiling this data together, Wordze is able to show you the most popular keywords, and tell you how hard it is to rank for each phrase. In this review, I’ll highlight some of my favorite Wordze tools that I use the most.

Wordze Keyword Research Tool

The Wordze keyword research tool is where I spend most of my time. It supports three main match types: exact, phrase and broad match. After typing in a keyword to search for, Wordze will supply you with a variety of useful information for each keyword result. This includes the number of searches in the last 24 hours, and estimate of the keyword’s monthly searches, and a Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI). KEI is a simple formula which compares the number of searches to the number of results in the search index. This gives you a rough estimate of how difficult it will be to rank for a keyword. Each keyword also has a link to the Keyword History, WordRank and Dig tools for easy access as well.

Wordze Wordrank

The Wordrank tool is a unique feature to Wordze and is great for scoping out the competition. For a particular keyword, it will give you you general metrics like total results, KEI, Wordrank index, and average page rank url. Wordrank is a proprietary Wordze metric that takes into account the number of monthly links to a domain, the domain’s age, and the number of items in the search results. Like KEI, it also tells you how hard it is to rank for a keyword. However it is a more comprehensive and the Wordze FAQ itself states that it is a more effective metric to look at than KEI. What’s also nice about the Wordrank results is that it shows you the top competitors for the keyword. You can see how many links they are getting per month, how old the domain is, the domain PR and the specific URL PR. If you are starting up a website and looking for what keywords to base your SEO efforts around, this is the tool to use.

Wordze Dig Tool

The Wordze Dig tool will inspect over 10,000 websites and return related keywords in Excel format. This is actually quite a time consuming task, so once you type in a keyword into the tool, you’ll need to wait awhile for the process to complete. However, once it is done, you’ll get a massive list of keywords. I did a dig on the term “keyword research” and it gave me a list of over 2400 results. Not all the keywords were good as I saw some weird ones like, “hidden valley paints”, and “immunology” in the results. You rarely need that many results anyways, so by running this list through the Keyword Expander tool you can generate a much more manageable list of good keywords. One thing I’m not sure about is that the results don’t seem to be in any particular order so you’ll have to manually sort the results in Excel if you use this raw list.

Wordze Keyword Expander

The Keyword expander tool takes the results from the dig tool or your own imported set of keywords and filters them. The first two filters are pretty self explanatory. The first is Count Limit which filters based on the amount of traffic each keyword gets. The second is Limit Number of Words which lets you create filters based on the number of words (greater than or less than). For example, you can find good long tail keywords by specifying the number of words greater than 2. Finally the last filter allows you to specify required words or remove specific words from the results. So if you see any junk keywords like I mentioned in my “keyword research” search, you can filter them out that way. Once you have the filters set how you want, you can save them to a new project.

Other Wordze Tools

Wordze also includes several other tools, which I’ll quickly highlight here:

Download Top Keywords – You can download an Excel file of the top 1000 searches from the past week, or the top 5000 searches from the past month on Wordze.

Wordze API – If you program at all, Wordze has its own programming interface that lets you incorporate Wordze’s keyword search in your own applications.

Keyword Density – Type in a website and it will show you the keyword density of all the keywords it finds on your page.

Keyword Misspellings – Type in a keyword, and this tool will give you a list of the common misspellings for the keyword.

Wordze Thesaurus – Type in a keyword and find related keywords.

Wordze Final Thoughts

Wordze is a subscription service and offers two pricing packages. If you have immediate short term needs, you can get their 1 day trial for $7.95. Otherwise a monthly Wordze subscription will normally run you $45. At the time of this writing, Wordze is offering a special offer of $38.98 a month.

Compared to other keyword research tools, Wordze is quite affordable and offers some compelling tools. I especially like the WordRank feature and use it all the time to evaluate the competitiveness of entering certain niches. Once you’ve gotten familiar with the interface, the site is quite easy to use. The only real negatives I’ve found is that they don’t offer a limited free trial to test out their service like KeywordSpy does. Another issue is that you really don’t know specifically the sources of their keyword data as the Wordze folks are quite tight-lipped about this info. Still, I’ve used Wordze with several projects and have always been pleased with the results its given. If you’re looking for an inexpensive keyword tool to help you with your PPC or SEO campaigns, I would suggest you to check Wordze out.

Today, we are going to look at iSpionage which is another keyword research and competitive intelligence site. It offers several nice features that will help anyone jump start their pay per click campaigns. Using iSpionage, you can track competitors in your niche and see whether or not it will be a profitable for you to enter as well. Then, when you decide to start your own campaign, you can leverage your competitors experience in the area by accessing their ad copy and landing pages and using the good things you see in your own campaigns. In this way, iSpionage will save you the time and money that’s usually reserved for starting up a PPC Campaign.

What do you get with iSpionage?

It tracks and monitors keyword from all 3 major pay per click engines: Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN Adcenter.

iSpionage reveals competitors a/b split test results.

It offers competitor alerts to notify you when new advertisers enter your niche.

Their data is updated daily.

If they don’t have results for searches you’re looking for, you can submit a request and get their research team to manually research the results for you.

iSpionage Usage

iSpionage works around the concept of projects. For a new PPC campaign you would first create a project, with a couple of main keywords you want to monitor. You can then use iSpionage to come up with a list of related keywords that can be easily added to your project. Once you drill down into a project, you can see your keywords and look at essential information like how many clicks per day each keyword gets, and what’s its average CPC. You’ll also see the number of ads running for each keyword on all 3 major pay per click engines: Google, Yahoo and MSN. This is really useful information as it allows you see how competitive the market is, and whether there are spots for you to enter. The other column to notice is the Days Monitored. For more popular keywords, you will see that iSpionage has been monitoring them for more than a couple of weeks, while some of the more niche keywords haven’t been monitored at all. For these niche keywords, you’ll have to show some patience and wait a few days for iSpionage to gather some relevant results.

Once iSpionage has gathered adequate data for your keywords, you can drill down into the most promising ones and take a look at what particular competitors are advertising for each keyword. Here you can see who the most dominant competitors are and figure out what sorts of ads they are running. Drill down further, and you can see which ppc engines they are running their ads on, where they rank for a particular keyword, and if they are not cloaking their links you can see if they are actually the Merchant or an Affiliate.

Performing keyword research with iSpionage

iSpionage contains two modes for performing keyword research. The first is the relevant keywords generator. What it does is take your existing keywords and finds other keywords related to them. This is a great way to find long-tail keywords for your niche. iSpionage claims that unlike other keyword generators, it will filter out the junk keywords and only return you a list of relevant keywords. This is quite useful as creating successful campaigns relies on the ability to create tightly focused ad groups.

iSpionage Competitive Keyword Finder

The second keyword research option is iSpionage’s competitive keyword finder. To use it, you first search for a keyword which will bring up a list of advertisers. Or if you have a url in mind you can use that as well. This gives you a quick snapshot of all the competitors in your space. One great use of this is to see if which advertisers are using all 3 networks. This usually means that an advertisers has at least one profitable campaign on a network, and has expanded to the other 2.

Other iSpionage Features

One thing that sets iSpionage apart is its free custom keyword research ability. If for some reason, iSpionage does not contain results for a search, you can submit a custom search request. This will get iSpionage’s team of research specialists to manually start looking at the keywords in this specific niche. After they have completed their research, which usually takes 2-4 days, they will send you an email telling you to re-do your search. This is a free part of your membership and quite unique to iSpionage.

One other nice feature of iSpionage is the competitive alerts feature. After you set it up, iSpionage will alert you when new advertisers using the keywords from your project appear on any of the 3 search engines. If you have a trademark on certain keywords for example, this feature is a nice way to find out if people are using it inappropriately, and take action against them if necessary. The alert feature is also quite useful just to see when you have a new competitor to deal with so you can plan any actions.

Final Thoughts

All in all, iSpionage is a worthy product in the competitive intelligence and keyword research space. It offers quite a few unique features that differentiate it from the many other keyword research tools. I really like the fact that it tracks more than Google Adwords, and actually has data from Yahoo and MSN as well. For those who want to get up to speed quickly with iSpionage, they have some excellent video tutorials on their site. Just spend an hour with them, and you’ll be up and running in no time. iSpionage offers a couple of flexible subscription plans. Their iSpy Ranger plan goes for $59 a month. With this plan, you’ll miss a few features like the competitive alerts. With their iSpy Pro package, you’ll basically get the whole feature set for $79 a month. If you want to test out the iSpionage service, make sure to try their free trial. The free trial limits the number of keywords you can track, but should give you a good flavor of how iSpionage works. So give iSpionage a shot, and see if it can’t help you with your PPC campaigns.

There are many keyword research tools on the market, but one of the better ones is KeywordSpy. Keyword Spy calls itself an advanced research engine and it is a really great tool for gaining insights into your competitors’ strategies with a minimal amount of work

With Keyword spy you can easily find out who’s bidding on specific keywords, other related keywords that they are also bidding on, and a several useful metrics like ROI, cost per click, and clicks per day for each keyword. By leveraging this knowledge, you can launch your own pay per click advertising campaigns using the keywords you know to be profitable.

KeywordSpy Overview

When you first log into your KeywordSpy account, you’ll see the Keyword Research search bar at the top. Here you can search either by keyword or a domain. When you type in a keyword, the first thing you’ll see some general keyword statistics like cost/click, clicks per day, and the number of advertisers. Next to the stats is an easy to read chart showing the number of advertisers for a particular keyword for the past year. Below the overview, you’ll see a list of the top 5 paid competitors and top 5 organic competitors for that keyword. Paid competitiors are the websites that are actually buying ads targeting this particular keyword. Organic competitors are sites that rank in the search engines for the keyword.

With KeywordSpy, there are a couple of ways to drill down into the results. If you’re interested in seeing other related keywords, you can click on the link next to keywords found, and you’ll see a table containing all the other keywords that a site is bidding on. One of the most useful metrics included here is the ROI for each keyword. What ROI tells you is the amount of money expected to be earned from this keyword, divided by the keyword’s cost per click. This essentially gives you a quick way of finding which keywords are profitable. What’s great about this view in KeywordSpy is that you can sort by the various metrics, and export this data to a file where you can analyze later using a program like Excel.

For internet marketers, KeywordSpy also offers the ability to perform research on some of the major affiliate networks like Clickbank, Commission Junction, Linkshare, and several others. By going into the Affiliate keywords tab, KeywordSpy shows you what the top products are on each network, how much competition there is, and who the top affiliates are. You can even see the various ads that affiliates are using for each product. This data is invaluable if you market products on these networks.

The last KeywordSpy feature I wanted to talk about is Time Machine. Time Machine lets you see how a particular keyword or site performed over a specific period of time. For a keyword search, this lets you see who the competitors were for a keyword at different points in time and how many advertisers were bidding on that keyword for a particular month. If you look at Time machine for a domain, it will show you which keywords they were bidding each month. By taking a look at this data, you can do some investigation and figure out the strategies that your competitors are using.

Does KeywordSpy Work?

Once you get used to the Keyword Spy interface, you’ll find the site to be pretty easy to use. The big question about a service like this is whether or not the data is accurate or not. In my experience, Keyword Spy’s data is relatively up to date and accurate. When conducting my own tests, both their paid listings and organic listings seem to match what I see in Google, give or take a position or two. I did notice that when I performed some searches on some smaller niche sites, Keyword Spy did not have data on them. For example a search for PPC Coach returns no results, even though I know for a fact they do advertising on Adwords.

How much is KeywordSpy?

Keyword Spy is pretty expensive compared to other keyword research tools, but it is packed with lots of information that other tools don’t offer. For a Research Only subscription, the cost is $89.95 a month. They also offer a Tracking Only subscription package for the same price which allows you to perform real time tracking of your competitors. You can also opt for the Professional package which will set you back $139.95 a month and offers both research and tracking capabilities. Is Keyword Spy worth the price? Well that depends on your needs. If you are looking to start a pay per click campaign, you important good keywords are to a successful campaign. KeywordSpy is also a very powerful tool if you are thinking of starting a website in a new niche. KeywordSpy will allow you to quickly evaluate the competition in your niche and allow you to target the best keywords using SEO techniques. Once you see how easy it is to create that profitable PPC campaign, or locate that high paying niche, you’ll find that a KeywordSpy subscription will easily pay for itself.
